Alexandria, VA (outside of the City of Alexandria)

Alexandria, VA Outside of the City limits

Alexandria, VA has two parts to it.  There is the City of Alexandria, which is where the historic district is located and where all of the restaurants, shops, and many major events are held.  Alexandria, VA (Fairfax County) is the area South and to the West of the City boundaries.  Travel South out of Old Town, along the waterfront GW Parkway, and you will arrive at Mount Vernon or Fort Belvoir. Along that route there are dozens of wonderful neighborhoods with detached homes, yards, mature trees, and great schools.  Traveling to the West, there is another set of neighborhoods that are in West Alexandria, jsut outside of the city line.

Just South of Alexandria and next to Springfield, VA is a planned community called Kingstowne

It has many types of homes, pools, parks, playgrounds, and clusters designed for ease of access and locations of restaurants, shops, services, and public transportation.  It is near the Springfield Metro Station and very close to Fort Belvoir. Many military families choose this location because it is more affordable and is convenient to the base.

Waynewood is a neighborhood along the parkway that is known for its great schools and parks. Many young families buy here for the school district. Stratford Landing is another popular area because of the schools and location along the water. Belleview is a lovely community with older condos and detached homes. It is right next to New Alexandria.  An upscale neighborhood called Belle Haven is nearby and boasts a fabulous private country club and golf course. South, near Mount Vernon are many waterfront homes, water-oriented homes, and boat friendly communities.
